At 18:56 on the 23 April 2008 Oliver Anthony Neate was born.

He was born at the Ashford & St Peters Hospital in Surrey, weighing 10 lbs or 4 and a bit Kg's and roughly 53 centimetres long.

Oliver's delivery wasn't as straightforward as we had hoped. He was 10 days overdue so had to be induced but we think he had other ideas because Pen's labour started on the way to the hospital.

Because he was overdue and pretty big the doctors said they needed to make sure the labour progressed so over the labour Pen was given Prostin gel, had her waters broken and a hormone drip. After a combination of the above and 24 hours of labour they were a bit worried about his heart rate so suggested an emergency C-section. This was done and he was born less than an hour later.

Pen and Oliver got home from hospital on Friday evening and are getting the hang of breastfeeding. Pen is still a bit uncomfortable but healing fast and doing a fantastic job of looking after our baby boy.
